Bishopbriggs Katee’s covid-safe drive in gig a huge hit

Bishopbriggs singer Katee Kross is gearing up for a
special drive-in concert in her home town next month.

With live music gigs severely curtailed because of the pandemic, the talented and popular local musician has come up with an innovative way to get her songs out to her fans.

Katee’s dad and manager Peter O’Neill said: “We had noticed from posts online that a lot of churches in America were doing drive-in services so that’s where the idea came from.

“John and Susan Watson, who own Huntershill Village in Bishopbriggs, have very kindly allowed us to use the car park at Huntershill.

“We have a small elevated stage where both Katee Kross, along with Glasgow band Raintown will perform what will be essentially an acoustic set each. The audience will all be in their own cars parked in front of the stage and the music sound will be transmitted to their car radio.”

Peter added: “This is very much a pilot show but we hope to run similar and frequent shows.”

Katee has lost out on numerous gigs because of the pandemic, including a three-week tour of Germany, but has managed to keep her profile up by livestreaming 17 weeks in a row.

The drive-in concert is on Sunday, October 4, from 2pm.
