Cumbernauld's public artworks will be showcased in BBC show

Cumbernauld’s rich array of public artworks will be showcased in a BBC Scotland show which will be broadcast in early 2022, with the focus firmly on new towns.

The one-off documentary ‘Meet You at the Hippos’ will be presented by Scottish actor Mark Bonnar, whose father, Stan Bonnar, was a town artist at East Kilbride and Glenrothes.

The i newsletter cut through the noise

The programme will look at the social history of the New Towns through their public artworks, and will explore the the legacy of the New Town artists, including Cumbernauld's Brian Miller.

Filming has already taken place in Cumbernauld and includes an interview with artist Neville Rae who is from the town.
