Deal agreed for 39 new homes for social rent in Newton Mearns

The house building company has confirmed that it has reached agreement with the council to deliver the first 39 affordable homes for social rent, as part of its wider agreement to deliver a total of 82 affordable homes, which form part of the wider masterplan vision and framework for the new community that is now emerging at Maidenhill, Newton Mearns.

The conclusion of this agreement paves the way for a range of one and two bedroom cottage flats, two and three bedroom terraced, three bedroom semi-detached as well as four bedroom detached homes to be built in three locations across the development, which will contribute to the new neighbourhood that is now growing in East Renfrewshire.

Taylor Wimpey says it has designed and created an affordable housing range which has allowed its team to deliver accurate, appropriate, and responsive proposals to meet the design brief for affordable homes at Maidenhill.

In real terms, this means that East Renfrewshire Council will take ownership of 82 ‘turn-key’ homes which are ready to move into the day that keys are exchanged.
