Entertainment and exercise continues thanks to East Renfrewshire Culture & Leisure team

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s employees are keeping the community fit, engaged and entertained while venues are temporarily closed.

Instructors are offering free online fitness classes every day to encourage people to keep active from home, with a series of high intensity interval training, zumba and yoga workouts for people of all levels and abilities.

Live Bookbug sessions are also proving a hit, with favourite hosts from East Renfrewshire libraries providing singing and reading fun for younger audiences.

Kids are also being kept busy as staff set a series of Lego, art and sports challenges.

Children of key workers have been enjoying a packed programme of sports, arts and drama fun at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s Spring Holiday Camps, hosted at Eastwood High and Carlibar Primary schools.

Anthony McReavy, from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure, said: “This is a difficult time for everyone but our team has been working hard to support the community, keep spirits high and help people to stay connected and active at home.

“Our Spring Holiday Camps are keeping key workers’ children entertained and we’ve been sharing lots of activities for people of all ages to take part in from home too.

“We’re adding new content all the time so we would encourage everyone to follow us and join in.”

Top tips are also being shared to keep adults entertained, with family history and research, live online theatre performances and a new Reading Group set up to encourage discussions around ebooks, which can be downloaded for free.

A brand new digital service, Pressreader, is also available for East Renfrewshire readers, with access over 7000 worldwide magazines and newspapers.

East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure has also been working behind the scenes to contact customers, freeze payment plans, process refunds and reschedule activities and theatre performances and wants to thank customers for their continued support.
