Funding boost for Eastwood Park Theatre

The Giffnock theatre was awarded £90,000 from the Scottish Government’s Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund through Creative Scotland.

The funding was allocated to Eastwood Park theatre as part of a £5million open call support package for Scottish performing arts venues that are currently unable to open to the public, to plan for a sustainable return.

Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “Eastwood Park Theatre is a vibrant arts and culture venue at the heart of our community and has enjoyed considerable critical and commercial success in recent years. We welcome this funding from Creative Scotland to support our recovery.

“We are working hard behind the scenes on our programme for next year, which we hope our customers will continue to support. We are also developing a Theatre Skills Programme while we are closed, so that something positive, enduring and valuable for young people, Eastwood Park Theatre, and the performing arts generally, can come out of this.

“In the meantime we want to thank everyone for their patience and look forward to welcoming everyone back when we can reopen safely.”

I’m also encouraged to see that this funding will help venues across many different parts of Scotland where they form such an important part of the cultural life of local communities.”

Eastwood Park Theatre is among 59 across Scotland sharing a total of £4.74million from the Scottish Government’s Performing Arts Venues Relief Fund’s £5million open call.
