Their daughter Claire said they were one of, if not the last, to be wed in the church before the building became the Canal Club and the church moved to its present site.

Morag and Hugh’s wedding reception took place at St Flannan’s School House where Morag’s dad was
janitor.

Growing up, both attended St Ninian’s Primary School and its High School, three years apart.

Morag worked as an Enrolled Nurse in Woodilee Hospital for most of her career, while Hugh worked as a joiner in various companies including the BBC and primarily the Scottish Special Housing Association (SSHA) where the current McNairs site now stands.

They lived with Hugh’s Mum until 1973 and then moved to Fossil Grove , the family home now for 47 years.

They have two children - Claire and Hugh, three grandchildren, Colleen, Ross and Rachel and two great-grandchildren, Finn and Blake. All of the family live in the Harestanes and Rosebank area.

Hugh and Morag say the secret to a long and happy marriage is the love of their family and their faith.

Claire said they buy the Kirky Herald every week and can tell you everything that’s happening from it.

She said social distancing had put paid to a party but the family were set to enjoy a weekend break away to
celebrate.
