Great war medal re-united with family after we print appeal from Yorkshireman

An appeal we printed in regard to a Victory medal from the First World War has seen the treasured talisman re-united with the family of its owner.

The medal belonged to Private John White of Kilsyth and had come into the possession of Yorkshireman Alan Johnson who has since returned the medal to the man who answered our appeal – Private White's great-grandson, Adam Smith.

Adam said: “It’s fantastic to now be in possession of the medal although how it came to be in Alan’s possession remains a mystery to us both. Thanks to the appeal this acknowledgement of John White’s service has returned to his family where it belongs”.
