The Giffnock theatre is offering up a free pair of panto tickets to the best budding writers in their age groups who can pen a story starting with the phrase ‘Once Upon a Time’.

The winners will be ‘crowned’ by Cinderella, played by actress Ava Anderson, as they collect their panto prize.

Creative children from across Glasgow are encouraged to enter and forms are available from East Renfrewshire libraries, as well as over at East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “We can’t wait for the classic Cinderella tale coming to our stage this December and we’d love to see how creative children can be with their stories.

“Whether they’re set in Giffnock, Glasgow or in a galaxy far far away, we can’t wait to read their efforts and if they’re looking for inspiration, we have plenty of stories available at libraries across East Renfrewshire to help spark their imaginations.”

Entries should be under 200 words and entered in one of three categories: seven and under, 8-11 and 12-16. Competition entries should be submitted before the clock strikes midnight on Sunday 10 November.

Cinderella will follow at Eastwood Park Theatre from 11-30 December and tickets are available now from eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 0141 577 4956.
