Kirkintilloch The Turret GP practice’s responsible fun run raises £2k for hospice

Staff at a GP surgery in
Kirkintilloch have raised almost £2,000 so for Marie Curie Hospice through some fun charity capers.

It all started when one of the doctors at The Turret GP practice had her own ‘Flamenco Friday’ at her local Waitrose store.

Lesley-Ann Somerville collected £500 from her polka dot parade in the store.

James Johnstone, Practice Manager at The Turret, said: “We then, as a team, decided to do a socially distanced (individual) 5k for the same charity, raising a further £1281, so far.

“I thought it would be nice to share some positive news of NHS staff doing something to boost our morale and raise money for a good cause in these challenging times.”

Lesley-Ann posted on her justgiving site: “Marie Curie do an amazing job and have helped many of our patients. They are not receiving as many donations during the lockdown as fundraising events are not taking place.

“As it’s Polka dot parade Friday in the Turret.... and I’m not working today.... I decided to do my own polka dot parade in Waitrose!”
