Ian Noble, general manager at Pure Gym, Shawlands, offered support to Langside Primary’s ‘Battle of the Grown Ups’ fitness fundraiser.

For six weeks Ian offered free twice weekly personal training sessions to 16 parents, helping them to be fighting fit for the fundraiser.

The challenge has raised over £1,100 so far, with more expected over the coming weeks.

The funds will be used to purchase active and educational equipment and furniture for the school’s outdoor classroom.

The fundraiser took place at the school’s sport day held at Toryglen Regional Football Centre.

The parents were split into teams of two and for 15 minutes participated in a bootcamp styled competition, with the winning team securing the title of the school’s fittest parents.

Stephanie Summers, chair of Langside Primary’s Parent Teachers Council, organised the event.

She said: “We are always looking at ways to raise funds to support school projects and wanted to do something different from the usual coffee morning type fundraisers.

“We knew many of the parents were members of Pure Gym and thought it would be great idea to have a fitness fundraiser.

“When we approached Ian, we were looking for some advice and support and have been blown away by his generosity. He has dedicated so much of his time and effort to ensure we were all fighting fit for the day.

“On behalf of all the parents who took part in battle – including myself – we would like to say a huge thank you to Ian.”

Ian commented: “I’m really proud of all the parents who took part in the fitness fundraiser. They all worked really hard in the run-up to the battle and should be proud of their efforts on the day.

“I was only too happy to offer support to this great initiative and pleased it’s got so many parents focused on their fitness and well-being whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.”
