The overall objective of the Festive Campaign mirrors the purpose of Police Scotland, namely; to improve the safety and wellbeing of people, places and communities in East Renfrewshire.

The campaign is split into three sections; Shop Safe, Party Safe and Home Safe. All three of which are just as important as each each other.

Examples for each are as follows;

Shop safe - High value product placement within the shop, customers being vigilant when withdrawing large amounts of cash, remaining vigilant in regards to pick-pocketing.

Party safe - Organise a safe route home, don’t leave any persons from your group alone whilst intoxicated, have plenty of charge in your mobile telephone.

Home safe - Make sure all doors and windows are locked especially when presents are under your tree, don’t leave your car running in order to defrost your windscreen whilst you return within your home address, be vigilant of any vehicles / persons observed within your local area who appear to be prowling.

Achieving these three objectives is not the sole responsibility of the police and as such the co-operation of a wide range of partners across East Renfrewshire has been encouraged and agreed.

Sgt Brian Eaglesham of the Local Problem Solving Team, said: “We are working together with numerous partners to ensure that we are keeping people safe within East Renfrewshire during the Festive period.

“I would encourage people to enjoy the Festive period with their family and friends but ensure you plan your nights out and get home safely. Also, be vigilant when out shopping and ensure your homes are locked and secure.
