Selfless act raises £940

A nine-year-old schoolgirl from Busby has had her locks shorn to raise money for charity, and to help those less fortunate.

Gaby McKellar, who is a pupil at Busby Primary School, told her mum that she wanted to do something to help children who have cancer.

Between them they came up with the idea of a haircut, which could then be used to help make real hair wigs for children suffering from the disease.

Gaby visited Coco hairdressers in Clarkston last week where she had an amazing 14 inches cut off, which has now been sent to The Little Princess Trust.

So far Gaby’s JustGiving fundraising page has managed to gather the remarkable sum of £940 – with more still to come in.

Mum Tanya said: “As parents we couldn’t be prouder of our daughter.

“Her compassion is overwhelming, and we simply can’t believe how selfless a nine-year-old can be to think of others in this way.

“We hope in some small way this will help others.”
