Take a night time walk through Glasgow to support Shelter Scotland

Almost 100 people are set to walk through Glasgow during the night in support of housing charity Shelter Scotland.

They are getting together for the Sleep Walk on Tuesday, December 3 as a way of raising funds and showing support for the 81 families a day who lose their homes in Scotland.

The group includes staff from Swan Group, Nationwide and Agile Solutions who are already raising money for the charity as well as members of the public, and staff and volunteers from Shelter Scotland’s shops.

Emma Jackson, community fundraiser with Shelter Scotland, said: “This event is open to anyone who thinks no-one should be without the basic necessity of a home in 21st Century Scotland.

People can get sponsored ahead of the walk but there’s no minimum amount they need to raise to take part.

“We know that people in Scotland are ashamed at the scale of homelessness and we’re working with supporters to put on the Sleep Walk to give people a way of helping.”

Those taking part will gather at the Shelter Scotland Glasgow Community hub on Osborne Street at 6.30pm on December 3 to register before setting off at 7pm.

Walkers will take a five mile circular route around the city, passing the charity’s shops on Duke Street and Union Street before returning to the hub at around 8.30pm.
