Thinking about a house party in East Renfrewshire or Glasgow Southside? Think again ...

Police have some blunt advice for anyone in East Renfewshire and Glasgow Southside planning a house party tonight – don’t even think about it.

Saturday night is obviously a time when many people would usually get together for social occasions and events.

With pubs, clubs and restaurants currently closed, there are concerns some people may consider inviting friends round to their house for a get-together.

But Greater Glasgow Police have issused the following warning on social media: “Holding house parties is against Government #StayHomeSaveLives measures and could increase the spread of #Coronavirus.”

The police are urging everyone to follow the guidelines set out by the Scottish Government.

People should only be going out for shopping for essentials, travelling to work if you can’t work from home, daily exercise or a medical need.

The only people who should be in your home are your immediate family – no one else.
