The General Pharmaceutical Council has decided that Mr Habib Khan, whose opening of a chemist shop in Lanark Road is blamed by some for the village GP practice nearly folding, is unfit to practice as a pharmacist for at least five years.

However, the Gazette understands that his Carstairs pharmacy – now the only local place where prescriptions can be obtained – will carry on operating.
