Pic of the Week: Two’s Company by Chris Everett

I TOOK this photograph on the Isle of May in the Firth of Forth.

Time on the island is limited by the tidal conditions at the landing stage so I only had around two and a half hours to photograph the birdlife. On this visit I was keen to photograph the puffins.

Luckily I quickly found a spot were groups of puffins were gathering and soon had an assortment of photos.

This one I particularly liked as it showed a pair and an isolated individual which gave me the idea of the title Two’s Company.

Puffins are probably the most photogenic of our native seabirds with their brightly-coloured beaks and feet contrasting against the black and white of their plumage.

I took this photograph with a Canon 300D and Canon 400mm f5.6 lens. The settings were 400 ISO, f7.1 @ 1/2500 sec.
