Pick up a Caring Christmas tree

Shoppers scouting for their Christmas tree could help the homeless in the process with a visit to Newton Mearns Baptist Church.

The church is one of a number selling Caring Christmas Trees on behald of the Bethany Christian Trust.

Grade one Nordman Firs are available at competitive prices, with every penny raised going to help get vulnerable people off the streets this festive season.

Brian More, minister of Newton Mearns Baptist Church, said: “Buying a Christmas tree from Caring Christmas Trees directly benefits the poorest people in Scotland.

“In making a Christmas tradition work like this enables our family to help others.

“It’s an innovative and effortless way to turn a seasonal tradition towards a sad reality and if that can help the poor, let’s do it.”

A spokesperson for the charity commented: “Caring Christmas Trees is a simple way to support Bethany’s vital work in Glasgow.

“Every penny raised stays in our city and allows us to offer practical support to families in need this Christmas.”

Caring trees — ranging 4-8ft — start at £35, and you can also purchase a stand from the charity.
