Pink bras at noon

THE streets of East Renfrewshire ran pink for a day, thanks to the ladies of Curves, Newton Mearns.

The health club organised its own Noon Walk this week – a trek from the premise in Newton Mearns to Clarkston Toll – in aid of two cancer charities.

The ladies decorated bras and wore them over their clothing, causing a blur of pink – and a few laughs too.

Curves’ Karine McFadyen told The Extra: “We had a fantastic time and the generosity of the people of Clarkston and our own member sponsors have helped us collect over £700 for Breast Cancer Awareness and Maggie’s”.

The Noon Walk – a play on the national Moon Walks taking place throughout the year – is the latest of many charity endeavours by the Newton Mearns branch, which has this year collected food for Women’s Aid and the Lodging House Mission, and taken part in the Race for Life.

The ladies will continue to raise money thoroughout October through a Wear It Pink day, charity race night, powerhoop class and a themed booby baking competition.
