Pitstop for charity drive

THERE can only be one dress code when the Antonine Centre hosts an annual event for one of its favourite charities – Wear It Pink!

And if you’re going to have a car there, it simply has to be the legendary pink roadster driven by Penelope Pitstop in “Wacky Races”!

Like many workplaces at the end of October, the mall hosts a fund-raiser for breast cancer charities. And traders and shoppers rallied round with a mixture of music and high jinks – such as male members of staff sporting pink feather boas.

It paid off too as proceeds were the biggest ever raised at this event in the centre - a highly impressive £1342. Manager Karen Blair said: “I thank all retailers and members of the public who contributed to a fabulous 2011 Wear It Pink Day.

“In addition to the generous retailers donating items for the raffle and tombola, I would like to give special thanks to Rhonda from Hendersons who sold kisses for cash, to Mathiesons and Greggs for donating two fantastic cakes and to Subway for the sandwich platters.”

She added: “A fun day was had by all - especially during the karaoke!’’
