Plan to protect people from impact of floods

The Local Flood Risk Management Plan for Clyde and Loch Lomond (CaLL) Local Plan District (LPD) has now been published.

The full plan is now available to download - along with a document which provides a full list of ongoing actions.

These actions aim to reduce the risks and impacts of flooding, prepare and protect people and communities, and make a real difference to how we recover from any future flood events.

Councillor Alan Moir, convener of development and regeneration, said: “I am pleased to welcome the publication of the Local Flood Risk Management Plan - to which East Dunbartonshire Council has contributed significantly.

“It is important to provide an efficient, sustainable and co-ordinated approach to flood-risk management.

“Flooding can have a devastating impact on people and businesses, and it is important we do all we can with our partners to minimise the risk.

“Historically, here in East Dunbartonshire we know all too well the damage which flooding can cause, so it is vital to be prepared.”

The plan has been produced - by lead authority Glasgow City Council - to meet the requirements of The Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 and The Environmental Assessment Act 2005.

The plan should be read in conjunction with the CaLL Flood Risk Management Strategy, which was published by SEPA in December 2015, and is available on the SEPA website - www.sepa.org.uk

Local Flood Risk Management Plans and Flood Risk Management Strategies are updated every six years.
