Planning for the future in East Dunbartonshire
The Proposed Local Development Plan will set out a land use strategy for East Dunbartonshire and will include policies and sites for development which will be used to determine planning applications.
Responses to the Main Issues Report consultation in 2013 and ‘additional sites’ consultation exercise last year have been analysed and taken into account as part of the preparation process.

The report will seek council approval for the Proposed Local Development Plan (LDP) ahead of its publication in April for consultation.
The full report is available on the council’s website and can be viewed via the committee document search facility.
Thursday’s council meeting itself is open to the public and starts at 6pm in the Tom Johnston Chambers, East Dunbartonshire Council offices, at 12 Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “East Dunbartonshire Council is in the process of preparing a new Local Development Plan for the area, which will replace the Local Plan 2.
“Once adopted, East Dunbartonshire’s LDP will guide the future use of land, set out proposals for development - including new housing sites, which we are duty-bound to identify - and provide the framework for dealing with planning applications.
“It is important to stress that no decision has yet been made on the Proposed LDP and it will be considered by elected members on 22 January , 2015.”
