East Renfrewshire council has announced plans to build on the site of the former Auchenback primary school in Barrhead.

The proposed facility would offer a hub of council and NHS services aimed at young families, including pre-birth support, parenting and family support and health improvement initiatives such as infanct feeding, weight management, smoking cessation and immunisation.

Councillor Alan Lafferty, convener for social work and health, said: “We want all children in East Renfrewshire to experience a stable and secure start to life and to be supported to succeed. By creating opportunities to offer more support during the early years we can have a lasting impact on outcomes for our children.”

Early years work will be delivered by East Renfrewshire CHCP, in partnership between ERC and NHS Great Glasgow and Clyde.
