Plea for action on potholes and rundown street lights

That’s the view of Chryston Community Council, which says many roads in the area are littered with potholes.

The community council claims the worst affected are Lindsaybeg Road and Station Road - main feeder routes for the M8 and M73/74.

The group has also raised concerns about the unsatisfactory state of streetlights in the village.

A community council spokesperson said: “Something definitely needs to be done about this. The roads are in a bad way in Chryston.

“Some places are better than others, but there are pockets where roads are not in a satisfactory state of repair.

“Lindsaybeg Road and Station Road are particularly bad because of the amount of traffic on them. The council needs to take action.”

A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: “Our system shows no current complaints about potholes or lighting in Chryston, however, in light of this information we will run an inspection to identify and repair safety defects on roads and streetlights that aren’t working.
