Police and fire services on safety roadshow

INFORMATION events to help Glaswegians learn more about the new national police and fire services will run throughout the southside over the next four weeks.

Established by the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership on behalf of Glasgow city council, the Safe Glasgow Group are hosting 21 events with officers from Scottish Fire and Rescue, Police Scotland, Glasgow Housing Association and Glasgow Community and Safety Services.

Attending councillor James Coleman, chair of the Safe Glasgow Group, said: “The new legislation has transformed the way the police and fire services are delivered across the whole country.

“How these vital services are scrutinized and reviewed on behalf of the public has also undergone a huge change and we have to make people aware of how this affects them.”

The roadshow launched on Tuesday at Cathcart, and more are taking place throughout the southside this month.

These include southside central on May 30 (10.30am at Larkfield Centre), Newlands/Auldburn on June 4 (10.30am at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall), Pollokshields on June 12 (6pm at Shawlands Academy) and Langside on June 20 (2pm at Langside College).

Members of the public can express their views via a questionnaire, available on 287 0060 or by emailing [email protected].
