Police appeal for help from public for armed robbery at Hillfoot garage

The police need witnesses to come forward and help them with their enquiries into an armed robbery at Hillfoot garage in Bearsden last night (Sunday, May 1).

A man entered the BP garage on Milngavie Road at around 5.35pm, threatened a member of staff with a weapon and demanded money. He stole a three figure sum of cash before making off towards Glasgow city centre on Milngavie Road.

No-one was injured, however the member of staff has been left badly shaken.

The suspect is described as white, around 6ft tall, with slim build and dark hair. He was wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded top (with the hood up), grey tracksuit trousers, and white trainers.

Detective Sergeant John Aikman said: “We are in the process of gathering and checking CCTV footage from in and around the area but I’m appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to contact us. Any information could prove vital in our enquiries to trace the man responsible for this crime.”
