Police appeal over missing woman

Mrs Raj Kaur (86) was last seen by her family at their home on Blackstone Crescent, Pollok, in October 2010. She was making a regular trip to the Sikh temple on Berkley Street, near Charing Cross.

She was first reported missing to police in December 2012, and officers have since carried out enquiries in Glasgow and London, as it is believed she has contacts in the Southall area.

Inspector Paul Quinn explained: “We know that Mrs Kaur used to visit the gurdwara on Berkley Street, but worshippers there have not seen her for some time.

“It was thought that she may have travelled to Southall – however, this has not been confirmed”.

Mrs Kaur, originally from Afghanistan, speaks Punjabi but not English, and despite being in general good health (with the exception of high blood pressure), family members are concerned for her safety because of her age.

Police have issued a description of the missing woman as 5ft 5, slim and with brown eyes and grey hair. She was last seen wearing traditional white clothing and a white veil.

Inspector Quinn, from Pollok police station, added: “We have been working closely with her family in Glasgow – however, I would ask that Mrs Kaur herself or anyone who knows of her whereabouts contact us on 532 5600, or their local police office, as a matter of urgency and tell us what they know”.
