Police called for licence review of Maisie’s Bar in Lanark after loud music complaint

THE son of a publican was treating the bar as his own front room, when police officers turned up four hours after closing time in response to a complaint about loud music.

Twenty-three-year-old Leonard Smith was chilling out with friends after 4am, playing peanuts – an arm-wrestling game – then was “rude, obstructive and arrogant” with the officers, a special meeting of the Clydesdale Area Licensing Board heard on Friday.

The police had called for a review of the licence of Maisie’s Bar, in Lanark Wellgate, after the incident on January 15. And the board also heard of earlier complaints about excessive noise.
