Police hunt attackers

CUMBERNAULD Village was the site of a serious assault at midnight on Sunday - after a 22 year old man was viciously set upon by a gang.

It is thought that as many as five males could have pounced on the victim. The incident took place on the footpath adjacent to the car park at The Wynd.

The man was rushed to hospital and treated for head injuries but has since been released.

Although badly dazed he was able to provide police with a description of one of the men involved.

He is described as being around 19 years old and of broad build with dark brown hair. The man was wearing a light grey jersey and dark trousers.

And a teenager was the victim of a serious assault by a group of men while making his way down Moodiesburn's Glenmanor Avenue on Sunday evening

A black Vauxhall Astra drew to a halt and five males spilled out - and mounted a sickening attack on the 18-YEAR-old. The incident happened around 7.30pm.

The victim had to be taken to hospital and was treated for head injuries. However he has been able to issue a fairly detailed description of three of the men, all of whom are around his own age. All were around six foot tall.

One of the men had black hair and wore jeans.

The second man also had black hair and was wearing an navy blue and white jumper and navy blue jeans with black shoes.

A third man was wearing an Adidas tracksuit.
