Police hunting murderer of Lanark man Graeme Melville
AS the Gazette went to press this week police were still hunting for the murderer of 25-year-old Graeme Melville, who was killed in Lanark in the early hours of Thursday.
Their appeal is for witnesses but it was joined by another urgent plea, this from the people of the Smyllum area themselves – please DON’T judge us by this incident.
The vast majority of law-abiding residents in the estate fear that the slaying will now only reinforce the stigma of drink and drug-fuelled violence that has hung over their area for too long.
