Police issue facial reconstruction to try and identify man

A facial reconstruction has been released by police to help try and identify a man whose remains were found two years ago.

The badly decomposed body of a man was found in woods near to Golf Course Road at Glen Orchard Road, Balmore, on October 19, 2011.

The area is very remote and it is believed that the body had been there for between six to nine months. There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Despite previous media appeals and extensive enquiries carried out by officers, police have been unable to identify the man.

He is described as white, between 20 and 35 years of age and 5ft 8ins to 6ft 1ins tall with light brown hair. He was wearing a light-blue polo shirt from Topshop, a blue jacket with a knitted band around the collar with a white band.

It had ‘Southern Green Pennsylvania’ motif written on the left chest. He was also wearing blue jeans and dark training shoes.

Detective Sergeant Kerr Duncan, said: “Sadly, despite previous appeals and extensive police enquiries carried out, this man has not been identified.

“I hope that the images of a facial reconstruction and the man’s clothing will jog someone’s memory, and finally we may be able to find out who this man is and contact his family.”
