Police plea after woman (83) hit by car at Balornock

Police are appealing for 
information after an 83-year-old woman was seriously 
injured after being struck by a Land Rover Discovery in 
Balornock on Saturday, September 19.

The elderly lady was crossing the carriageway on Northgate Road, near the junction with Acredyke Road, around 7.45am when she was struck by a Land Rover Discovery travelling south.

She was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe her condition at the weekend as “critical”.

The female driver of the Land Rover Discovery was not injured.

Sergeant Grant MacIver, Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.

“In particular, I’m keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage or who saw either the pedestrian or the car before the crash. Please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1044 of 
Saturday, 19th September 2020.”
