Police probe after man plunges from bridge into road in Springburn

A MAN has died after falling from a bridge onto a busy road where he was hit by a vehicle, police believe.

Strathclyde Police are appealing for information and witnesses after a man’s body was discovered in the early morning of this morning (Wednesday, August 29) on the A803 Springburn Road.

At around 5.25am police received a report of a man’s body on the carriageway at the A803 near to the Baird Street bridge.

Emergency services attended and the road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out.

Detective Inspector David Mackie of Baird Street CID is appealing to the public for information.

He said: “I would like to speak to any pedestrians or motorists who were in the vicinity of Springburn Road, near to the Baird Street bridge just prior to the time of the body’s discovery. At this time we are treating the death as unexplained.

“We believe the man may have fallen from the bridge onto the carriageway and may have been struck by a vehicle.
