Police search for man who absconded from Stobhill Hospital

POLICE have issued a plea for help in an effort to trace a patient who went missing yesterday (Wednesday).

Joseph Moran (46) absconded from the grounds of Stobhill Hospital around 11.50am on Wednesday, August 7. He was last seen at a relative’s address in Mossgiel Drive, Drumchapel, a short time later.

He is described as a white male, 5ft 10ins tall, receding sandy-coloured hair with green eyes.

He has a tattoo on his left arm and a distinctive birth mark on his forehead. He was wearing a black Berghaus Jacket and a blue and grey top with a white collar, blue jeans and black trainers.

Detective Inspector Davie Mackie at Baird Street CID is appealing for assistance.

He said: “Joseph Moran is a detained patient within Stobhill Hospital. He suffers from mental health issues and requires medication.

“It is imperative that he returns to the hospital where he can receive the medical treatment required.

“Despite extensive enquiries, all efforts to trace him have met with a negative result.

“If anyone recognises him I would urge them to contact police and not to approach him. Similarly, if anyone knows of his whereabouts please do not shelter him as he needs medical care.”

Any person who recognises this man or has seen him since he absconded is asked to telephone the CID at Baird Street on 0141 532 4279 or 4116. Alternatively please phone the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
