Police seek information on unexplained death in Newton Mearns

Detectives are appealing for information after the body of a 37-year-old man was found within a house in Newton Mearns on Friday, August 10.

Around 2.30pm, police were called to the property on Anderson Drive where the body of a man, who has now been formally identified as Leigh McCracken, had been discovered.

His relatives have been made aware.

A post mortem examination has been carried out. His death is being treated as unexplained at this time and enquiries are continuing to establish the exact cause of death.

Officers are trying to piece together the last movements of Leigh and have been reviewing CCTV and making door to door enquiries in the area.

Detective Inspector Craig McPhail, of Helen Street Police Office, said: “We are continuing to try and piece together the last movements of Leigh to help us with our enquiries.

“The last confirmed sighting we have of Leigh was on Wednesday, July 25, at Eastwood Health Centre. We are appealing to anyone who may have seen him or heard from Leigh either on this date or after.

“We have been checking CCTV and making door to door enquiries in the area but would ask anybody who knows her or lives in the area and has any information that can help us to please come forward and contact us.”
