Police step up search for missing woman

Police have made a fresh appeal for information from the public in an effort to trace a woman who vanished from her home over a week ago.

Janet McQueen, (58), was last seen by her neighbour leaving her home in Langside Road, Govanhill, Glasgow around 10pm on Tuesday, October 18.

She is described as white, 5ft tall, of slim build with short black hair. She was wearing glasses, a black anorak and dark coloured trousers.

Inspector Alex Hutton of Cathcart police office, said: “We know from speaking to family and friends that for Janet to be out of touch for this length of time is not like her at all. There are serious concerns for her wellbeing.

“Our enquiries have been continuing to trace Janet safe and well.”

Last night (Tuesday, October 25) officers patrolled a number of streets stretching from Govanhill to Shawlands.

We will be speaking to as many people as we can to try and develop new lines of enquiry as to her whereabouts.

“I would appeal to anyone who knows Janet, or who may have seen her since Tuesday 18 October, to call officers at Cathcart Police Office via 101. If you encounter officers on the streets of Govanhill and Shawlands, please approach them with any information you may have.

“You may not think the information you have is much, but as part of our broader investigation it could make all the difference.”
