Sergeant Catriona McConchie, from Kirkintilloch Police Office, said: “Anyone can be victim of doorstep crime so if members of the public see any suspicious activity we’d urge them to contact police immediately.

“We will continue to target doorstep crime and work closely with Trading Standards to detect and deter those conducting criminality in East Dunbartonshire.”

Chief Inspector Rob Hay added: “Bogus offences are predominately committed against people in their own home who are perceived as vulnerable.

“Those organised individuals or groups offer all types of services to unsuspecting members of the public.

“They methodically target their victims and adapt their criminal method to exploit people’s vulnerabilities.”
