Police warning after deer spotted on busy roads

Police issued warnings to motorists after reports of deer on busy roads at Kirkintilloch and Glasgow city centre this morning.

A young deer was spotted running into the roadway near High Street, George Street and Albion Street at around 7.20am today.

Police warned drivers to approach the area carefully.

Meanwhile, police in East Dunbartonshire also warned of deer on the Kirkintilloch Road this morning.

The animal was spotted near the Stables.

ED police tweeted: “Reports of deer this morning on Kirkintilloch road, near to The Stables. Take care.”

While Glasgow city Police tweeted: “We’ve had reports of a young deer running into the roadway near High St/George St/Albion St - please drive carefully.”

A motorist in the city joked he thought he had been seeing things after spotting the animal.

Daniel Jones tweeted: “Just seen a deer kicking about Glasgow city centre. Am I still sleeping?”
