Police warning on housebreakings - and dud notes

A WARNING has been issued to Carluke residents that the town is currently the target of a mini-housebreaking spree.

Police say that the onset of dark evenings seems to have encouraged the housebreakers to try their luck, especially in the Salveson and Old Bridgend areas where several incidents have been recorded in the past few weeks.

A police spokesman said that residents were advised to ensure their homes were securely locked up when going out for an evening and a timer switch to light up unoccupied homes when it gets dark would be a handy device to discourage the thieves.

Police are also warning everyone in Clydesdale to ‘take note’ of any banknotes passed to them.

An increasing number of counterfeit banknotes are circulating in this area, most of the dud notes being £20, although a few fake tenners have also come to light.
