CCTV cameras are to be installed at Baron’s Haugh and Dalzell Estate in response to a number of incidents over the summer which have included underage drinking, bottles being smashed, graffiti, loud noise and damage to the bird hides at Baron’s Haugh.

Both councillors say they have been contacted by constituents who raised concerns and asked for action be taken.

Mr Wilson has written to the local police on a number of occasions and Ms Galllacher has arranged a meeting to discuss issues with worried local residents.

The councillors say that in the last week they have been told by police that cameras are to be put in place and that the council has confirmed they are on order.

Mr Wilson said: “I’ve received many reports over the summer regarding antisocial behaviour at Baron’s Haugh and this is obviously a matter of some concern. The police and the council have confirmed that cameras are expected to be put in place and I hope this will go some way towards reducing anti-social behaviour at this hugely popular local amenity.”

Ms Gallacher added: “It goes without saying that antisocial behaviour and vandalism is simply not acceptable. Many people in my own ward regularly make use of this impressive nature reserve and I am concerned to hear about the behaviour occurring during the summer months.”
