Candidates sought for Barrhead Community Council election

People in Barrhead are being encouraged to come forward to represent their area.

Applications are now open for candidates to stand to become elected as members of Barrhead Community Council.

Community Councils are a special type of community group who are consulted on important local issues, such as planning and licensing.

These groups provide a direct link between the local community and the council, NHS, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and other public bodies.

Nomination forms are also available from the Council Headquarters, Eastwood Park, Barrhead Library or by contacting Vincent McCulloch, Community Council Liaison Officer, on 0141 577 4645 or by emailing [email protected].

Anyone wishing to stand for election must be a resident in the Barrhead area, aged 16 years or over and named on the electoral register.

The nomination period closes on Wednesday, October 23, at 4.45pm.
