Emergency birth, death and stillbirth enquiries can still be made by calling 01698 453792 or 01698 454023 between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday.

South Lanarkshire Council said: “Due to the coronavirus issue and the latest advice from the UK and Scottish Governments a number of temporary changes have been made to the council’s registration services.

“All birth registration appointments are postponed. We are waiting on guidance from the Registrar General, however please do not worry about the 21-day time limit.
