These are the roads in East Renfrewshire earmarked for resurfacing work

Roads set to be resurfaced over the next year have been revealed by East Renfrewshire Council.

A number of roads throughout East Renfrewshire have been identified as being in need of resurfacing.

Council chiefs are being asked to give the green light to a programme of work for 2020/21 when they meet next Thursday.

It follows an additional £15m investment in roads infrastructure over five years, which was agreed in February 2019.

Most of this year’s £3m allocation has been directed towards unclassified roads which “require significant works”.

There has been a delay in the delivery of the programme due to restrictions on the construction industry as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Any slippage will be carried forward to 2021/22.

East Renfrewshire Council is ranked in first place for the condition of A class roads but data for unclassified roads, around 80 per cent of the area’s network, shows almost 40 per cent should be considered for maintenance.

“It is clear that the considerable achievements on the classified network are being overshadowed by the figures for the unclassified network,” a council report states.

Carriageway resurfacing is planned on the C3 along Neilston Road, Uplawmoor; on Broomfield Avenue, Newton Mearns (Castleton Drive to Cul-de-sac); and at Kilpatrick Gardens, Clarkston (Fereneze Avenue to Ailsa Drive).

Work would also be carried out on Woodvale Avenue, Clarkston; Broomvale Drive, Newton Mearns; Doune Crescent, Newton Mearns; Greenwood Road, Clarkston (Buccleuch Avenue to Richmond); and Cathkin Drive, Clarkston.

The list includes Church Road, Giffnock; Station Brae, Neilston; Alloway Drive, Newton Mearns; Turnberry Drive, Newton Mearns; the C9 Humbie Road at Floors Road, Newton Mearns; and the C9 at Eaglesham Road (Maple Avenue to Beech Avenue), Newton Mearns.

Crossmill Avenue and Waulkmill Avenue, Barrhead, have been identified as have Meadowhill, Teawell, Warnock Road and Beech Avenue (Shaw Road – Beech Crescent) in Newton Mearns.

Alexander Terrace, Mafeking Terrace and Millview Terrace in Neilston, and Elliot Avenue and Struan Avenue in Giffnock are included.

Other roads to be resurfaced are Orchy Drive/Orchy Gardens, Clarkston; Kinfauns Drive and Kinloch Road, Newton Mearns; Cruachan Way/Cruachan Drive, Barrhead; Oakbank Drive, Barrhead; and Douglas Drive, Newton Mearns.

The council previously approved several schemes in February this year. These are A77 Fenwick Road, Giffnock (Morrisons to Duelled Section); B677 Clarkston Road, Clarkston (Randolph Drive to Nethercliffe Avenue); C2 Kingston Road, Neilston (Glen Shee Avenue Southwards); A736 Levern Road (Glasgow Road), Barrhead (Cemetery to Hurlet); A736 Lochlibo Road, Barrhead (Lochlibo Terrace to Donnies Brae); and B776 Rowbank Road (B775 Gleniffer Road to A736 Lochlibo Road).

Footway resurfacing is also included in the new programme of work. It is planned for A736 Lochlibo Road, Barrhead (Lochlibo Terrace to Donnies Brae); Kilpatrick Gardens, Clarkston (Fereneze Avenue to Ailsa Drive); Woodvale Avenue, Clarkston; Woodside Crescent, Barrhead; Elliot Avenue and Struan Avenue, Giffnock; and Orchy Drive/Orchy Gardens, Clarkston.

Kinfauns Drive, Kinloch Road and Douglas Drive in Newton Mearns are also listed.
