Last week’s meeting of the environmental services committee agreed that the pull-out service for bin uplifts should end across the authority.
However, residents of Westfield and Eastfield feel particularly hard done by, as they received assurances several years ago, when wheelie bins were introduced, that this would always be maintained for all, as the area has no pavement space to store bins.
Now residents are demanding to know why they were not consulted and have raised fears for the elderly and disabled. North Lanarkshire Council say individual needs will be addressed.
Rose Cadden of Westfield Community Council said the assurances for all residents were given at heated public meetings several years ago.
