Cumbernauld town centre plans nearing publication

A keynote document which will spell out the future for Cumbernauld town Centre is to be published next week - allowing the public to have its say.

North Lanarkshire Council has confirmed that it is on the cusp of publicising its own blueprint for the decades old set-up

No concrete plans are forthcoming as yet but NLC has opted to release a statement on the process which will involve other town centres within its boundaries too.

A council spokesperson said: “The council is to launch a public consultation on our Town Vision Project, which outlines ideas of what each of our eight town centres could look like in the future.

“The visions address issues such as the digital economy, retail trends, the low carbon agenda, active travel, demand responsive public transport and the delivery of public services.

“While the council is leading on the Town Visions, they can only be progressed if they secure public support and are delivered through partnership with the private sector. We can confirm that details of the consultation will be published within the next week and will be available on the council’s web site.”
