Gazette Indy Debate – Robin McAlpine: Yes Clydesdale

Biggar resident Robin gave his passionate views on why Scotland should say ‘Yes’ to a 420-strong audience at the Carluke and Lanark Gazette’s Scottish Independence Debate at Lanark Memorial Hall on Monday, May 26.

And for Carluke and Lanark Gazette readers – and everyone else – who couldn’t make it along on the night, our video from the event explains why the director of the Jimmy Reid Foundation and editor of the Scottish Left Review is backing the Yes campaign.

He said: “As part of the UK we have the most incredibly high rates of inequality.

“We have a low paid workforce, half of which earn less than £21,000, yet we work the third longest hours in the developed world.

“We have suffered many years of ‘Me First’ politics and we have come second. So vote ‘Yes’ on September 18.”
