SNP group announce local candidates standing for election

The SNP in East Renfrewshire have today (Wednesday, March 22) announced their candidates for the forthcoming local authority elections, which take place on May 4.

The team, comprising four men and three women, seeks to represent every area in East Renfrewshire.

The candidates are:

Ward 1 – Barrhead, Liboside & Uplawmoor - Angela Convery and Councillor Tommy Reilly

Ward 2 – Neilston & Newton Mearns North - Councillor Tony Buchanan

Ward 3 – Giffnock & Thornliebank - Colm Merrick

Ward 4 – Clarkston, Netherlee & Williamwood - Annette Ireland and James Mills

Ward 5 – Newton Mearns South & Eaglesham - Caroline Bamforth

SNP Group leader Cllr Tony Buchanan said: “I am delighted that we have such an excellent balance of experienced and new candidates, bringing their skills and initiative together to benefit our local communities.
