Poor report for VIP Nursery in Crossford

A CONCERNED parent has hit out at a Crossford nursery following a damning Care Commission report.

The dad, who asked not to be named, expressed his concern after the report on the VIP Nursery at Valley International Park, was published.

Care Commission Officer Isobel Sheridan rated the quality of care and support and quality of management and leadership at the nursery as weak.

She also stated that the quality of staffing was unsatisfactory, while the quality of the environment was simply adequate.

Worryingly, the report also stated that several staff had been working in the nursery without proper disclosure checks.

The unannounced inspection was carried out on December 15 last year.

Because of the report, the worried local dad who contacted the Gazette has now removed his daughter from the nursery.

He said: "To put it bluntly the report was pretty damning.

"Four or five parents have already pulled their kids out of the nursery — I'm not surprised."

However, nursery owner Irene Smith told the Gazette this week that a new manager is now in place at the nursery.

She added: "The Care Commission is coming back in the next few months to check our progress.

"I am hopeful that by the end of March the new report will be

published."
