Postal ballots are on their way

Voters who have applied for a postal vote for the Scottish independence referendum should now have received their ballot papers.

The first issue of postal votes has been sent out to East Renfrewshire residents, with a second issue, for those who applied more recently, to be sent on September 8.

Counting officer Lorraine McMillan said: “Please make sure you read all the instructions included in the pack carefully to make sure your vote counts.

“I would also urge voters to return their ballot papers promptly – they must be received by the counting officer on referendum day at the latest.”
