Probe into electricity blaze as power restored to homes

AN investigation is underway into the cause of a fire at an electrical substation.

Residents in Millersneuk Avenue, in Lenzie, were evacuated and hundreds of homes left without power following the blaze on Monday morning at around 9.10am.

Firefighters, police and Scottish Power engineers were called to the scene.

Scottish Power said the fire was being investigated and that repairs are being carried out.

Electricity was restored to all homes by yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

During the loss of power, residents were offered food and showers at a rest centre set-up at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre.
