Protest at East Renfrewshire Council Chambers

Hundreds of residents from all across East Renfrewshire are expected to gather at council offices for a peaceful protest tonight (Wednesday). East Renfrewshire Council's plans to concrete over the last few remaining residential greenspaces and parks has the public up in arms. Campaign groups have united to rally public support to stand up against the council.

The Save Shawwood Greenspace Facebook campaign which was created after the September council meeting, attracted a number of professional people passionate about protecting the well-used and much loved green space known as Shawwood field.

This working group, and others including Save Broom Park (Newton Mearns), Friends of Huntly Park (Giffnock), Save Crookfur Park (Newton Mearns) and Save Busby Playing Fields (Busby) are working together to ensure that the council hear that the majority of the people they serve are dedicated to saving these natural open leisure spaces.
